Welcome to my blog! It's been a long time coming. I've been intrigued with this concept of blogging ever since it came into existence. In fact, I created the framework for this one about 5 years ago (see About This Blog), but never even completed a first post. I knew that once I got started, blogging would be easier....getting started is the hardest part, right?
The time has come, though. Today, I join a group of 24 youth and adults from First United Methodist Church of Holland, MI. We will embark on a mission to provide Christian service and support to the people of Chimaltenango, Guatemala. Since we leave behind many who have provided (and continue to provide) prayer and financial support, my hope is to include as many people as possible on this special opportunity for service and discovery. This just might be the perfect time to take that giant leap into the world of blogging!My teacher's heart reminds me that all learning begins with asking questions. So my first question is: Why? Why Guatemala? What are the needs in Guatemala and why, exactly, do the people there need our help? Here's what I found:
And so the journey begins. My eyes are open, my tinted glasses are on, and my soul is ready for an adventure that--no doubt--will impact my life as much as it will those who I serve. Come along with me as I seek to discover what learning God has in store for this rag-tag band of missionaries!
